Is it just me, or is the ‘sports luxe’ trend literally everywhere now?
I mean, fashion trends come and go in the blink of an eye, most of which I pay little attention to, but this trend has really caught my eye (and my pocket).
Women are wearing more traditional sports attire for fashion and personal style purposes and as you can see, I’m all here for it!
If you browse through your favourite sports and active wear stores and websites, you will not only come across the usual apparel for sports and exercise, but also ‘sports chic’ pieces for the everyday girl.
This trend started with women wearing trainers, in a range of colours, as a fashion statement, pairing them with jeans, leggings and even dresses!
Today, the fashion trend has evolved further – we’re talking a variety of tracksuits, hats, leggings, co-ordinate outfits and bomber jackets. These are a few sportswear pieces that are becoming a staple in women’s wardrobes.
Moreover, due to demand, our options are not limited to just sports shops anymore. Fashion retailers from high-street to high-end are stocking ‘sportswear’. This means that you too, can buy into this trend, regardless of your budget. The likes of Topshop, H&M and Zara are all serving us a slice of this trend.
I love wearing this grey Ellesse tracksuit and pairing it with neat, white trainers. I love the stylish take on the traditional tracksuit with the cropped hoodie and the logo print on the side seams. It is feminine and fits to my shape nicely. I’d wear this outfit anywhere from the cinema to a shopping trip.
I also like to wear sports hoodies and matching leggings (like this Puma ensemble), paired with trainers (and sometimes a hat), on an everyday basis. It is an outfit that requires little effort, is comfy AND is considered stylish, which is a plus for me.
Now, I’m not your typical sportswear consumer, but I’ve really bought into this trend. I’m not alone in doing so either; a quick scroll of my Instagram feed (PriyaaSophia) and plenty of other like-minded females are doing the same.
This trend seems to be worn by your favourite celebrities too. The likes of Kylie Jenner, Rihanna and Beyonce all seem to be pro ‘sports luxe’.
I love that fashion allows us females (and males), the opportunity to play and experiment with different looks. A couple of years ago, wearing sportswear other than for sports was considered ‘chavy’ – as far away from being considered fashionable as you can possibly imagine.
I can now wear attire out that I would usually only wear in the confines of my house and be still fashionable?
This trend is definitely a game changer!
